Learn VoltDB – the NewSQL in-memory RDBMS

Join VoltDB and AOL for a lively discussion on the NewSQL in-memory RDBMS with two use cases from AOL!

VoltDB is a NewSQL RDBMS aimed at ultra-high throughput database applications.  Its natively partitioned, in-memory architecture allows you to achieve massive transaction throughput at scale on shared nothing commodity infrastructures.  VoltDB is used extensively in markets such as financial trading, digital advertising, online gaming and network monitoring, to name a few, and is appropriate for any application that has high throughput OLTP workloads and needs real-time analytics.

In this talk, Ben Ballard, Field Engineer will provide an overview of VoltDB’s design goals and architecture,  and a short demonstration. The goal of this talk is to help you quickly understand what VoltDB is all about, and what it feels like to build VoltDB applications.

Following VoltDB’s presentation,  Neil Cohen, Chief Architect from AOL Games, and Michael Delnegro, Principle Database Administrator from AOL's Storage division, who have been experimenting with VoltDB, will discuss possible applications of VoltDB technology in online games and storage metadata management.

Pizza and soda will be provided, along with a Kindle Touch raffle.
